Frequently asked questions

  • What is a level 2 electrician?

Level 2 electricians receive additional training and qualifications to handle installations of overhead and underground electrical services. This includes disconnections, reconnections, power upgrades, meter installations and more.

  • Why would I need a private power pole?

All power leading into a property must meet certain Ausgrid rules and regulations. For starters, wires cannot cross a neighbouring property and must clear the road and footpath by a minimum height. If your property is positioned in a way that makes this impossible, an additional power pole may need to be installed.

  • What if a power pole falls near my property?

If a power pole has fallen on your property, you need to call the energy company as soon as possible. You should always assume all power lines are live, and thus stay clear of the area until confirmation of power disconnection.

  • When should I install a new power meter?

New meters are obviously installed when there are all new home connections. They can also be replaced when an old meter becomes damaged or faulty. Sometimes they will be replaced to account for a new electrical product, like a solar system. There is also digital meter roll-outs happening throughout the country.
